Meet our New Community Development Worker for West and Mid Devon

‘Hello everyone. I’m Roo Carter and I have recently taken up the role of Community Development worker for Mid and West Devon.

My immediate plan is to get a sense of what is already up and running in these areas and to develop an understanding of what Recovery Devon can offer in the way of Support and encouragement to existing and new projects, highlighting training opportunities and meeting individuals who are seeking support.

I hope then I can see what I can bring to the table in terms of my individual skills and experience. My background is in mental/ physical/spiritual health along with substance dependency Recovery.

I am proactive and hands on in my approach to my own recovery and seek to empower others with my enthusiasm and light humour.

My initial areas of interest are neuro diversity, substance dependency and accessing mental health support in rural communities.

This is a large area to cover so will be heading around to meet up with the established wellbeing and recovery community to see what you are up to. So if you would like me to pay you a visit or have a phone call do get in touch.

My E-mail is ruth@recoverydevon.co.uk’

Join our aDoddle Community Map!

We are partners with the wonderful folk at aDoddle. They are working with you and your community to make it as easy for everyone to find help and support locally as it is to find a hotel or restaurant on Google Maps.

By Mapping UK Charities, Community Projects, Groups & Organisations together we are creating a national resource for use at a local level. It’s free to create a profile on aDoddle, and this can hold all sorts of information, making it great for small groups who can’t afford a website.

Do you have a not-for-profit community mental health offer you’d like us to share?

With thousands of social media followers and newsletter subscribers across Devon, we’d love to help you find your community. Send an email (hello@recoverydevon.co.uk) with “Roundup” in the subject header.
