Health Awareness Training 1 Learning
Outcomes:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Know
how mental health can affect peoples lives;
- Identify
ways to help and support people;
- Locate
resources, people and places that can be of help and support
One of the
aims of the workshop is to create a better understanding and
acceptance of the experience of mental illness. In our society
mental illness is often regarded with fear and suspicion. It
is a taboo area of life and largely hidden from view. This workshop
opens up and explores this taboo. It looks at the realities and
myths of mental illness not only by providing information but
also through the personal experience of the trainers.
The workshop
covers a broad range of subjects:
- Beliefs
about mental illness
- What
terms mean
- How
illness affects people
- Personal
accounts
- An
insight into hearing voices
- Stigma
and discrimination
- The
positive side
We always start
with defining the guidelines for the day and finish with a question
and answer session to clear up any outstanding issues.
Cost: £50
per person including light buffet and handouts

that can be used in recovery;

experiences and make informed choices regarding their recovery;
- Reflect on
their recovery;

things that work and don’t for themselves.
What is the WRAP?
The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) is not a cure, but can help you find
ways of managing your life through using the principles of the WRAP.
The WRAP will
help you monitor and reduce uncomfortable physical symptoms and
emotional feelings”
Who is the WRAP
for?
The WRAP could be used by anyone who wants to make a positive change in the
way they feel or increase their enjoyment of life. As long as you want to manage
your life better and are willing to try then the WRAP can work for you, but

well stage in your road to recovery.
The course will
be fun and interactive and may be just what you are looking for
in your road to recovery.
Cost: Free to
current MIND Members including handouts and a workbook
Members of the

hear personal stories written by people who have used the WRAP
