Devon Partnership NHS Trust
Recovery and Independent Living Function

Professional Experts Group (PEG)

Website: http://www.devonpartnership.nhs.uk/

The Trust has made a commitment to 'putting recovery at the heart of all we do'.  In order to support this in practice, Professional Expert Groups (PEGs) have been established in relation to the three functions delivered by mental health services for adults: Wellbeing and Access, Recovery and Independent Living and Urgent and Inpatient Care.

The Recovery and Independent Living function supports people living with longer term mental health needs.  PEG membership reflects a broad range of stakeholders, including clinicians, people with personal experience of using services or being informal carers and representatives from voluntary sector services.

The role of the Recovery and Independent Living PEG is to guide the design and development of services whose core purpose is to support peoples’ recovery through being holistic and promoting social inclusion, self management, personal autonomy and independence.

This includes developing guidance in relation to applying recovery principles to specific areas of practice.
