The post is based on the Cedars unit in Exeter, a busy acute adult mental health inpatient service. We are implementing a new way working aimed at improving the service to patients, offering a more therapeutic environment and more individualised care to patients. The STR worker posts have a key role in these developments. 80% of time is spent in face to face contact with patients, providing both group and individual work. You will work as part of the Multi Disciplinary Team, working under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist. You need excellent communication skills to liaise with both the OT team and Nursing colleagues. It is essential you enjoy motivating patients to engage in activities and occupation. You will have practical skills in a broad range of occupations that you can adapt to work along side patients using recovery principles. You will be keen to run groups, work as part of a team and be able to work independently, carrying out interventions as directed by Occupational Therapy staff.
