Exeter Council for Voluntary Service Exeter CVS deliver a variety of accredited and non-accredited courses and workshops on a variety of topics. Click for information

The Speaking Up course is designed to help people to gain and practice the skills to help them to speak up in public and private situations. It is a 30 hours course, run over 10 weeks at venues throughout Exeter and East Devon. It is facilitated by qualified teachers using a variety of teaching methods including discussions, small and individual group work. The sessions have a maximum of 12 learners and are run Exeter Council for Voluntary Service in partnership with Exeter College and accredited with the Open College Network South West at Entry Level and Level 1.

Teacher Training - The CVS are organising two Teacher Training courses:

  • City and Guilds 7300 - this is an ideal qualification for those who train others in organisations. It’s an intensive course, delivered over two days, which provides the participants with a sound introduction to the concepts of a systematic approach to training.
  • City and Guilds 7304 - this NEW qualification is part of the recently introduced government requirements for those teaching/training adults. This course is the minimum requirment qualification for those in what has been categorised as the associate teacher role.
MIND in Exeter and East Devon "MIND Training" Workshops and Sessions on Mental Health Awareness, Promoting Wellness, Mental Health Recovery, Community Learning and Signposting
Open Up Mental Health Media Challenging Stigma and Discrimination Training James Wooldridge is the South West Coordinator for the Open Up, part of Mental Health Media. The Open Up course is designed to give people skills to speak up about stigma and discrimination through discussion and activities. South and West Devon Mental Health Training Pool a group of local people who want to raise awareness and offer training on mental health issues, drawing on their own experiences
